Hi my name is Laura Brown and I
am an autism spectrum specialist and I work as a private consultant for
children and families that are impacted by autism. I provide Play Based Autism
Spectrum Early Intervention, treatment and therapy in your home. This is were
your child feels the safest and most comfortable.
First and foremost are for the
child, the child is in a relaxed state of mind and a frame of mind. Children
are most relaxed when they are playing because playing is what children do the
most. Children with autism sometimes have a difficult time playing and they
don't really know how to play with toys. Sometimes they often don't know how to
play with other children and so what I like to do is sit down with the child
and literally teach them how to play with objects and with another person; get
comfortable with another person in their space and take them through a series
of play-based Early Interventions that I can build language on.
I can build social skills and the child is
comfortable through the process but challenged and so the benefit for them is
that they are truly learning at the rate that they can learn and in the best
possible sequence of the learning skills I'm teaching them and so the benefit
for the child is that they learn and that they are proud and that they fell a
sense of accomplishment. The benefit for the parents is that they know exactly
what kind of interventions I am doing and they can actually watch me, observe
me, and begin doing these things themselves which accelerates the learning for
the child I often find that parents are surprised by the comfort level they
have and the rapid pace that everyone is moving forward and the family has a
sense of unity and hope for their future.
